“Thank you so much! This was a wonderful experience for my boys. I so appreciate offering the classes to siblings. So often siblings get lost in the shuffle of school, doctor appointments, therapy sessions, etc. I think it also helps Aiden feel more comfortable in class to have Brady be here. It also helps to have another way for Aiden to experience his environment, especially something that doesn’t seem like therapy. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!    -Chandra Kociia-Leggett (Art Therapy Program)

Dear Kya’s Krusade,
I would just like to take this opportunity once again to say thank you, so much, for all you have done for my son. As with most 17 year old boys, his pick-up is his pride and joy. It was a dream-come-true for him to finally have his own wheels and all the freedom which comes with that. The lift Kya’s Krusade purchased for his truck made his dream a reality.  As a result, he can now easily drive himself to school, go run my errands for me, and he’s even been known to go pick up the occasional girl. He loves the fact that he can now tell me he’s going to go pick up a friend, will be riding around, and will be back by 11:30.  I also like knowing he does not have to sit around in his truck, unable to get out and walk a girl to the door, or come in to pick her up. He hates what he feels is putting his friends out, when they have to help him in and out and get out his wheelchair, but this gives him a new sense of independence knowing he can do it all himself. I cannot even begin to fully explain the blessing Clay has received with the funding and kindness of Kya’s Krusade. Thank you, and I sincerely hope that other children and teens can experience the fun, happiness, and independence in the same way my son has with the help of this organization.
Thank you and God bless you,
Lisa Braddock

Art Therapy Program Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register my child(ren) for the Kya’s Krusade Art Therapy Program?

Once the program registration form is completed, you only need to submit the Class Registration form for the term in which your child is interested.  Sibling’s must be registered to participate.

If my child is not able to participate in all four classes, may I still enroll him or her?

Yes, although participating in all four classes will provide the added benefits of continuity and relationship-building, you may select any or all of the classes on the class registration form.

How long is my child(ren)’s registration valid?

The program registration form is valid for the entire year in which it is completed.  Individual class series registration forms must be completed for each series in which you’d like your child enrolled.

What if I miss the registration deadline, but would still like to enroll my child(ren)?

If there is space in the class, we will make every effort to accomodate you.  If you have missed the registration deadline, please call us at 614-750-2198 or e-mail arttherapy@kyaskrusade.org no later than the Thursday preceding the class.  You may also pre-register your child(ren) for future classes.  All forms for the year are available through our website or by mail, upon request.

It is important for children with physical disabilities to continuously participate in therapeutic activities to increase and maintain the function, use and range of motion about their joints and muscles.  Access to the proper adaptive equipment and additional therapy sessions can support their care, progress and confidence. These often become additional out-of-pocket expenses for families, who already face financial strain with other basic healthcare costs associated with caring for children with physical disabilities.

Kya’s Krusade provides two types of Financial Assistance to help families with expenses not covered by insurance:

  1. Adaptive Equipment
  2. Additional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Hippotherapy Sessions

Who is eligible to receive financial assistance?
Children under the age of 18 with a confirmed diagnosis of a life-long physical disability affecting the child’s motor skills, for which physical/occupational therapy is part of the treatment regimen, are eligible to receive financial assistance.

What does the financial assistance cover?
Financial assistance awarded through Kya’s Krusade may only be used for adaptive equipment, hippotherapy, or additional physical or occupational therapy sessions not covered by insurance. Examples of eligible adaptive equipment are adaptive easels, tables, chairs and seating; mobility aids (gait trainers, walkers, tricycles); standing aids and assistive bathroom, bathing and toileting equipment.
